Many new chemical entities (NCEs) as well as phytochemicals such as phytocannabinoids and curcumin are poorly water soluble, resulting in the low bioavailability. Therefore, solubility enhancement is the number one challenge in formulation development today. One of the main approaches to increase the solubility is Amorphous Solid Dispersion (ASD). ASDs can be created by different techniques such as spray drying, spray congealing and hot melt extrusion. After processing, the bioactive would be dispersed molecularly in a polymeric matrix. We used the ASD technique to enhance the curcumin's solubility. Another technology is Liquisolid technology. This technology was utilized to increase the phytocannabinoids' solubilities.
